Webcampus (Blackboard) Workshops

Shadows and Fog [No More]: An Introduction to Webcampus (2 Hours)

This two-hour workshop will introduce you to Webcampus and help begin the thought process for your own course development. This session will also include a discussion on the best practices and pedagogical impact of implementing Webcampus.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have a Webmail Account (http://webmail.fdu.edu).

What’s New, Webcampus? (1 Hour)

Come and explore this enhanced version of Webcampus! Blackboard 7.2 has all the functionality of Blackboard 7, plus, a few great new features such as announcement emails, Grade Book comments, and more. This workshop is specifically designed for previous users of Webcampus.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have experience with Blackboard.

Everyone Says I Love Webcampus Assessment (2 Hours)

This two-hour workshop focuses solely on assessment tools in Webcampus, including the new assessment features in Blackboard 7.2. These tools include the Test and Survey Manager, Grade Book and Assignment Manager. Whether you are creating an assignment, activity, test, quiz, self-assessment, or survey; Webcampus provides a variety of question formats that will be taught to you through the Test Manager.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have experience with Blackboard.

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Webcampus But Were Afraid to Ask (2 Hours)

In this two-hour workshop, you will continue your training in Webcampus (Blackboard 7.2). You will explore the Control Panel which allows you to add, edit, and remove material in your course. As you begin to build your course, you will receive instructional design assistance and pedagogical guidance specific to your own course. It is strongly recommended that you bring your course materials in an electronic format.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have experience with Blackboard.

Instructional Workshops

Crimes and Misdemeanors: Turnitin & Plagiarism Prevention (2 Hours)

Plagiarism is widely acknowledged as a growing challenge at all levels of education; however, it can be prevented and detected with plagiarism software and being aware of techniques that make it difficult for students to plagiarize. In this two-hour workshop, you will learn the basics of how to use Turnitin and how to adapt existing assignments to prevent plagiarism.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have Webmail account (http://webmail.fdu.edu).

Radio Days: Enriching Your Course with Sound (1 Hour)

Learn the techniques involved in adding sound to your online or blended course as well as to Word and PowerPoint files. In this two-hour session, you will be taught how to embed audio files, subscribe to podcasts, and how to record your own voice and add it to your course or files.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have a basic knowledge of Word and PowerPoint and experience with Blackboard.

Mighty Aphrodite: Enriching Your Course with Graphics (1 Hour)

Learn how to enrich your course with graphics in this two-hour workshop. In this session, you will learn how to locate copyright free images, download them, and incorporate them into Webcampus courses, PowerPoint and Word files, and email messages. This session does not include editing of graphics.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have experience with Blackboard.
